I am not going to pile on. I am just going to give the facts.
Trevor Hoffman.
He has converted 5 of his 10 save opportunities this season. And only 2 of the last 7.
He has given up 19 earned runs on 21 hits in only 13 innings.
Yesterday he failed to record a single out in blowing yet another save opportunity.
He currently has 596 career saves.
The question at the beginning of the season was "When will he hit 600 saves?" The season is nearly 1/4 of the way through and that question may soon be "Will he hit 600 saves?"
If you want to talk about money, well Hoffman signed a contract for $7.5 million for the 2010, with a mutual option for the 2011 season that has a $500,000 buyout. That guarantees Hoffman $8 million dollars.
