Football Realignment

There is some major realignment going on in college football. And why are they doing it? All for the money. The thing all of these college presidents, athletic directors and NCAA executives are missing that having a true football playoff would generate the most money. For being people in positions of influence at our pillars of high education, they seem pretty stupid. It looks like the Big 12 conference is going to get raped and pillaged in non-existance. How will this all fall out?

Here are my predictions:

Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas all go to the Big Ten to make it the Big 14.

Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Texas A&M go to the Pac 10 to make it the Pac 16.

And the remaining teams that are left over and unwanted will go to the Mountain West Conference to make it the Mountain West 12. Those teams are Kansas State, Iowa State and Baylor.

What I don't like about all of this is that with 14 teams in the Big 14 Conference, is that you won't play everyone in your conference. Granted they will split into two divisions. How will the divisions for the Big 14 fall out? Well it has always been thought that the Ohio State vs Michigan game at the end of the season was the Big Ten Championship. Do they split those to teams up so that will eventually meet up in the Championship game? What are the chances that those two teams will always meet up in the Championship game? I will be incredibly disappointed if Wisconsin and Minnesota aren't in the same division and don't play each other every year. Then what will Borky and I do?

Here is my breakdown of the two divisions:
East Division
Ohio State
Penn State
Northwestern
Purdue
Illinois
Indiana
Nebraska

West Division
Michigan
Iowa
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Michigan State
Missouri
Kansas

This alignment will only make 3 of the "Rivalry Trophies" obsolete. The Indiana - Michigan State (Old Brass Spittoon est 1950), The Minnesota - Penn State (Govenor's Victory Bell est 1993) and Michigan State - Penn State (Land Grant Trophy est 1993). But who cares about a spittoon and any rivaly with Penn State who has only been in the conference for 17 years.

It does however make things much easier for Ohio State. That would make them a shoe-in for the National Championship Game. I am sure everyone will be sick of seeing them make the big game and then get smoked by an SEC team.
