Stupid Question

I have been thinking about doing some tile work. But not in my house, I was thinking of tiling my front porch. I have never seen anyone with tile outdoors in Wisconsin. Is this a good idea or will all of the tile pop off after / during the first winter?I have also been flirting with the idea of ripping up my entire yard and instead of having grass, installing field turf. No more cutting the lawn, and raking the leaves would be a snap.
I know that this is pretty big down in Arizona. I already emailed a contractor for a quote.
